Suzanne Goldston

Professional Profile, Credentials & Scope of Practice

Suzanne Goldston is an experienced yoga and meditation teacher, educator, Vedic practitioner, and guide with more than 25 years of professional experience working directly with individuals through periods of significant stress, transition, loss, relational difficulty, nervous-system dysregulation, spiritual questioning, and meaningful life change.

Her work draws upon an extensive background in Yoga, meditation, Ayurveda, Vedic philosophy, self-inquiry, energy practices, contemplative traditions, and more than two decades of direct teaching and client experience.

Rather than working from a single modality or standardized protocol, Suzanne works individually with each person, drawing from multiple disciplines according to the nature and purpose of the work and the circumstances the individual is navigating.

She is currently completing professional certification in Vedic Counseling, providing an additional formal framework for principles and practices that have long informed her work.

Professional Experience

Nature of the Work

People generally seek Suzanne's work because something significant in their lives is asking for attention.

This may include chronic stress and fight-or-flight patterns, difficulty regulating responses to circumstances, grief and loss, major endings, relational patterns, significant life transitions, spiritual questions, or a recognition that established ways of responding are no longer working.

The work begins by identifying what is actually happening rather than immediately applying a technique or predetermined interpretation.

From there, Suzanne helps the individual examine patterns, beliefs, responses, and underlying dynamics; recognize what is perpetuating difficulty; and develop practices and responses appropriate to the person's circumstances.

Depending upon the individual and purpose of the work, this may include conversation and self-inquiry, yoga and embodied practices, meditation, breath practices, Ayurveda, Vedic teachings, mantra, energetic practices, or other methods within Suzanne's training and experience.

The objective is not simply insight. The work is intended to help individuals translate what they see and understand into the way they actually live, respond, choose, and move through their circumstances.

Professional Approach

Suzanne's work is grounded in several principles:

The individual comes before the modality.
No single technique or system is appropriate for every person or circumstance.

Insight alone is not completion.
Understanding a pattern intellectually does not necessarily change the way it operates.

The body matters.
Long-standing stress and patterns are not exclusively intellectual experiences. Embodied and regulatory practices may therefore be an important part of the work.

Self-examination is an ongoing practice.
The work is not based upon reaching a perfected or permanently “healed” state. It develops the capacity to see oneself and one's circumstances more clearly and respond with increasing consciousness.

Spiritual understanding and practical life are not separate.
Contemplative and Vedic principles become meaningful when they can be lived and applied within relationships, work, loss, transition, responsibility, and ordinary human experience.

Scope of Practice

Suzanne provides individualized educational, contemplative, practice-based, and therapeutically oriented services drawing upon her professional training and extensive experience.

Her services may complement conventional medical, psychological, rehabilitative, or other professional care when appropriate.

Suzanne does not represent herself as a physician, psychologist, psychotherapist, or other licensed medical or mental-health professional and does not diagnose medical or psychiatric conditions or substitute her services for care that requires a licensed healthcare professional.

When a client's circumstances require medical diagnosis, clinical mental-health treatment, emergency intervention, or another service outside her professional scope, appropriate licensed care is encouraged.

Medical Expense Eligibility

Certain individualized services may qualify as medical expenses under applicable federal tax rules when they are received for the treatment or mitigation of a physical or mental condition rather than for general wellness.

IRS guidance states that the determination of medical care depends upon the nature of the services rendered, rather than the experience, qualifications, or title of the person providing them. The IRS also recognizes therapy received as medical treatment.

Because eligibility depends upon the nature and purpose of the individual client's services and personal tax circumstances, Suzanne does not determine or guarantee tax deductibility. Clients wishing to claim services as a medical expense should consult their tax professional.

Documentation describing the nature and purpose of services can be provided upon request.
