God Is Not For Sale: How the Church Tries to Control Access to God
They convinced you that you are separate. Then they sold you the cure. But the truth is — you were never separate in the first place.
Christianity is loud in the headlines again. Politicians are draping themselves in scripture, wielding God like a campaign slogan.
The orange man isn’t doing anything new — he’s just borrowing the same energy the church has used for centuries: polarize people, stir fear, and claim authority in God’s name.
We’re watching it play out everywhere right now:
Trump energizing conservative Christians with new policies.
Homeland Security releasing propaganda wrapped in Christian imagery.
Even Silicon Valley leaders turning toward Christianity in the chaos of AI.
All of it points to the same distortion: Christianity being used to push agendas, not to spread the message of Jesus.
The Business of God
This is the part nobody likes to name. But it’s true: the church long ago turned the sacred into transaction.
Salvation with a price tag.
Belonging tied to loyalty.
Access to God mediated through pastors, priests, and leaders who say: “You need us for full access. Without us, you are lost.”
It’s the same trick every time: convince you that you are separate from God, then demand money, allegiance, or obedience to close the gap.
The Primary Illusion
This is the primary illusion of your existence. Read that again: illusion.
It’s not true. You are not separate. You never were.
Today’s Playbook
And now we see a politician playing inside that same atmosphere.
He doesn’t claim to have better access himself — he simply says, “I’m a Christian.” For many, that’s enough. They take the label at face value, equating it with virtue, without stopping to look at the fruit.
But let’s be real: even if you like him, how can you not see what’s right in front of you? He has not brought us together as a country. You cannot say he has made America great when he has divided us at this level.
Why People Walk Away
And then there are those who see through it — not only the politics, but the church itself.
They’ve walked away altogether because they can’t stomach the hypocrisy, the manipulation, the endless distortion.
They’re not wrong. It is bullshit. And it has nothing to do with Jesus.
The Real Risk
But here’s the risk: in leaving the institution, many leave the essence too.
They confuse the distortion with the Divine itself, and cut themselves off from the very presence that could set them free.
But leaving the church doesn’t mean leaving the essence. Sophia — the wisdom they tried to erase — still remains.
(I wrote more about her here.)
The Good News
Here’s the good news: God is not for sale.
The Divine doesn’t belong to politicians or preachers or institutions.
Jesus himself flipped tables over this very thing.
And Sophia — the wisdom they tried to erase — she remains.
The Threshold We’re In
The collective questioning we’re in right now is sacred. People are noticing the cracks. They’re asking:
Why does God need a middleman?
Why is “faith” so often tied to fear?
Why does “holiness” feel more like control than love?
These questions are thresholds.
Awakening isn’t about choosing the right side of polarization — it’s about stepping out of the game entirely.
It’s remembering you never lost your connection to the Divine in the first place.
The Same Distortion Everywhere
This is the same distortion I see in spirituality when words like karma and leela get flattened into slogans.
(I wrote more about that here: Leela, Dharma, Karma, Yoga: Four Gateways Into Truth.)
✨ That’s the invitation of this moment: to see distortion clearly, to stop buying what was never for sale, and to reclaim your own direct relationship with the Source of life itself.
This is only the beginning.
In Part 2, I’ll share how this distortion began nearly 2,000 years ago — when the church silenced the earliest followers of Jesus, erased Sophia, and forced the teachings underground.
And this isn’t fringe or conspiracy thinking. Modern, respected scholars and historians confirm it: the earliest Christian voices were silenced, their writings hidden, their wisdom nearly lost.
